The various activities that are carried out by Environment Group are :
Environment audit
Environment audit of refineries, gas processing plants and exploration & production facilities are undertaken to check the performance of units with respect to effluent treatment, air emissions and solid waste treatment & disposal system.
Work area monitoring and control system of the facility is also reviewed during the audit, this includes health check up records of people working in hazardous area.
Development of Standards
Revision of existing standards and new standard preparation is undertaken after discussing in steering committee meeting with the help of experts from industry and literature survey.
Seminars & Training
Seminar & Trainings are arranged for industry to make them aware of new developments in the field of environment protection/ monitoring in the oil & gas industry.
Monitoring of Oil Spill Response Tier-I Facilities
As per National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOS-DCP) all the oil handling agencies needs to implement oil spill response plan for Tier-I level. The implementation of these facilities is monitored by OISD in all oil handling agencies (SPMs) and Off-shore platform and the status is also reviewed at NOS-DCP meeting chaired by Director General, Coast Guard.
Joint inspection of OSR Tier-I facilities with Coast Guard
OISD along with Coast Guard representative conducts joint inspection of OSR Tier-facilities to check their efficacy w.r.t. performance and maintenance of equipment, training of people and drills etc.
Co-ordination with other agencies like Coast Guard , MOEF, CPCB, BIS for issues related to industry
Coordination with various agencies is maintained to take up issues related to industry. The Group is also involved in various activities like member of Public Liability Insurance committee of MoEF, the National Coordination Committee (NCC) for preparation of National Action Plan for Chemicals, member of standards review committee of BIS etc.
